Teens and Young Adults
Big Sky Stories partnered with WestWords, supported by the Office for Regional Youth in partnership with CREATE NSW, to kick off with two programs:
World-building Writer and Illustrator Program
This was an opportunity for Dungeon and Dragon enthusiasts to learn from and create with published authors and illustrators.
Emerging Writers Program
This group was for upper primary and early high school students and aimed to encourage their interest and skill in creative writing and illustration techniques. Participants created works under the guidance of published authors and illustrators and worked collaboratively with other young creatives.
This program continued through July 2022 to April 2023 school holidays, with multiple day workshops and the opportunity to work with creative mentors. We had an amazing book launch with families and participants, mentors and organisers in April 2023.
‘Campaign to Sky’s End - Quests and Tales from the Youth of Far West NSW is available for purchase at here.
Inklings is for young people 11-18 years who enjoy creative writing and would like a safe place to share their work with their peers, receive input from others and work on their craft using simple techniques. We hope to also connect with local authors and those further afield.
The group will meet at Big Sky Stories at least twice a term on Thursdays from 4.30pm-5.30pm.
By getting involved or making a donation you will be playing a valuable part in helping us to keep our programs running.
We’d like to hear from young people about the kinds of activities they’d find interesting.
