Help name our beautiful moth

At Big Sky Stories, we believe in the power of little things that make a big impact—like reading, rhyming, singing, and even insects! This week, we're thrilled to welcome a beautiful new addition to our space: a giant moth created by the talented artist and regular parent visitor, Ella Horsfall.

Titled ‘Metamorphosis’, this stunning creature came to life by stitching together upcycled materials such as shopping bags, discarded materials, animal feed bags, and other soft plastic waste. Small things = BIG impact.

Created for the Broken Hill Art Exchange Lifeline Broken Hill Tip Shop 2024 Waste to Art competition, and winning the Community 3D category, it’s no surprise that Ella’s artwork was recognised for its creativity and environmental impact.

We were so excited when Ella suggested that our space here at Big Sky Stories might be just the right home so that many little imaginations could enjoy ‘Metamorphosis’ and be inspired to create with ‘waste’.

We do think Ella’s moth needs a beautiful name, though, so we’re running a little competition.

Drop into Big Sky Stories and add your suggestion to the jar. We will announce the winning name at the end of the holiday break on February 12th! Be sure to stay connected through our website and our Facebook page for the winner’s announcement.

Thank you so much Ella. We lover her and it feels like she has always been here.
